What IAITC Open is
1.1 IAITC Open is a set of rounds for teams of secondary school students, held before the International Final of the IAITC. It consists of three rounds, IAITC Open I, II and III, and then the IAITC Qualifier, on the dates published on iaitc-official.org. These Regulations cover all four rounds.
1.2 IAITC Open is open to any team, in any territory. A team in IAITC Open does not represent a territory.
1.3 The general ranking of the IAITC Qualifier gives the places for open teams at the International Final, under Art. 5 of the International Final Regulations.
1.4 A national representative may use IAITC Open to choose its territory teams, may use it as practice, or may not use it.
1.5 Art. 1 and 2 of the International Final Regulations apply to IAITC Open, and so do its rules for teams and contestants in Art. 3.1, 3.2 and 3.6.
How a team takes part
2.1 Every team registers itself with the Organiser, under Art. 4.5. The Organiser runs IAITC Open and applies these Regulations to every team in the same way.
2.2 A national representative has no role in IAITC Open. Its teams register like every other team.
2.3 Every team competes at its own Contest Center under Art. 3, in every round.
2.4 There is no online participation. In every round, all three members of a team compete in the same room.
Contest Centers
3.1 A Contest Center is the room where a team competes. Each team organises its own Contest Center. The room must be on the premises of an organisation, for example a school, a university, a company or a training centre. A private home or a hotel room cannot be a Contest Center.
3.2 Teams set up their Contest Center under the Contest Center Guidelines.
3.3 Each team makes a continuous screen recording of each laptop it uses and a video recording of the room. Both cover the entire duration of the round. The team sends them to the Organiser. The deadline is 12 hours after the end of the round. The Organiser publishes how to send the recordings on iaitc-official.org.
3.4 Each team uses two Windows laptops, which may be its own, running Nitro Companion and the nitro-connect browser extension.
3.5 The Organiser may annul the results of a team that does not send complete recordings by the deadline or does not follow the Guidelines.
3.6 For its Contest Center, each team sends the Organiser the Contest Center consent form, published on the official website. A person responsible for the room fills in and signs the form.
IAITC Open I, II and III
4.1 IAITC Open I, II and III are held on the dates published on iaitc-official.org, at the same UTC time in all territories. All teams receive the same tasks.
4.2 A team's Open score is the sum of its two best scores from IAITC Open I, II and III.
4.3 A team has the same three members in every round of IAITC Open. Its members cannot change.
4.4 All teams are ranked together by Open score. The top 50% of the teams reach the IAITC Qualifier. The number is rounded up. Teams tied with the last such place also reach it. There is no limit per territory.
4.5 A team registers with the registration form published on the official website, at the latest 7 days before the first round it takes part in, and sends the signed consent form of Art. 3.6 with it. A team registers with the form only once. It registers again only if it changes its Contest Center, with a new consent form, at the latest 7 days before the first round in the new Contest Center. When the Organiser approves the registration, the contestants receive an invitation to the judging platform. The team must then also register on the judging platform for each round it takes part in. Contestants that are not registered on the platform cannot take part in a round.
4.6 The profile of each contestant on the judging platform must show the real full name of the contestant. A team uses the same team name in every round. The Organiser counts results under different team names as results of different teams. The Organiser asks a team to correct information that is not correct. The rankings show a team only when its information is correct.
IAITC Qualifier
5.1 The IAITC Qualifier is held on the date published on iaitc-official.org, at the same UTC time in all territories. All teams receive the same tasks.
5.2 Teams compete at their own Contest Centers under Art. 3.
Rankings
6.1 The Organiser publishes one ranking of all teams after each round. There are no rankings per territory.
6.2 The results of the IAITC Qualifier form the general ranking. The Organiser publishes it.
6.3 The places for open teams at the International Final go by the general ranking, under Art. 5 of the International Final Regulations.
6.4 The rankings show the name of each team and the platform usernames of its contestants. They do not show the real names of contestants.
Tasks, conduct and appeals
7.1 Art. 7 (Tasks and evaluation), Art. 8 (Conduct and integrity) and Art. 10 (Appeals) of the International Final Regulations apply to every round of IAITC Open.
7.2 The list of allowed packages for each round is posted on its competition page at least 7 days before the round.
Awards
8.1 A national representative or another organisation may grant its own awards for results in IAITC Open. Every such award must clearly name the round it was earned in, for example “IAITC Open 2027 · IAITC Qualifier”. It must not be presented as an International Final medal.
Data protection and final provisions
9.1 Art. 11 (Data protection) and Art. 12 (Final provisions) of the International Final Regulations apply.
